Parental alienation results when one parent deliberately creates a division between their child and the other parent.
If you’re an alienated parent (or grandparent), this self-help guide was written for you. Tessie Robins shares personal stories and practical coping tools to support parents experiencing alienation and encourage self-care, helping individuals find a path to truly living again. It discusses the typical characteristics of people who become victims of parental alienation and how to learn from those tendencies to avoid repeating them in the future. The core of the book shares self-care methods for better mental and physical health, how to prepare for triggers that lead to emotional breakdowns, and even ways to advocate for an alienated child, even if they’re no longer a part of your life.

Tessie Robins is a non-authorship contributor of development for this new book that summarizes the key principles underlying parental alienation theory, a topic that remains disputed within family law. This document aims to foster an ongoing dialogue, inviting researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to help refine and expand upon these principles in future editions. Edits, suggestions, and corrections to this book are welcome and will be incorporated into future editions of this Official Synopsis. The ultimate hope is that this document evolves into a widely accepted consensus on parental alienation theory.
The book’s open-access PDF is available on the Parental Alienation Study Group’s website, www.pasg.info. You can download and read the PDF, but DO NOT post it anywhere on the internet. There should be one master copy, which is at www.pasg.info. The book will be revised in a year or so and again after that, so there should not be numerous versions on various websites.
PDF version available online on May 24, 2025. A printed version of the book will be available in July 2025.
